I was fortunate enough to go to the dinner honoring a friend and a client of mine Mr. Edwin Pearlstine and his family last Wednesday night.
His family was given the Frances Salvador award for all the tremendous work they do around our community. Giving back to the community is such an important thing for all of us to do and the Pearlstine family should be an inspiration to all of us. They are truly "being good and being very good at it.
“Service is the price you pay for the space you occupy”
Below is a little excerpt from a poem called "The Eternal Question" written by Mr. Pearlstine's grandmother.
"Can you say tonight in parting with the day that sped so fast,
That you gave a helping hand to the weary one you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or lose it, was it well or poorly spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber do you think that God will say,
'You have earned one more tomorrow by the good you did today.' "
